Pattern Clashing/ Double Pretty

Apparently pattern clashing is in this season in fashion.  This would be surprising, except my friend  Danielle, who was in China for a few years, tells me that this was all rage in China well over a year ago. She dubbed it "double pretty". You think two patterns are pretty? Well if you put them together its DOUBLE pretty. (right..). She tested out this by paring the two most clashing items in her wardrobe. Sure enough, compliments flowed.

Here is an image I found at streetpeeper.com of a girl sporting this trend in China

clash of pattern…

Here is my sad attempt at double pretty.  I actually think the clashing florals is pretty cute

H&M verifies this trend on their website . Here are some of their double pretty fashion ideas:

H&M offers some advice on matching non matching patterns click here for original article
"1. Standout patterns
Ease yourself into clashing patterns by going with a mainly black-and-white palette and choosing patterns of roughly the same size. Add an accent color or two and you’re ready to stand above the rest.
2. Motif madness
If you want to layer print over print over print, a cohesive color scheme is key. For the most adventurous, try doubling up on maxi skirts for extra volume and have one of them peeking out.
3. Tribal mix
When mixing up patterns, think about going for a theme – like tribal – and match your accessories accordingly. The overall feeling is quirky, but speaks loudly of someone with inimitable style.
4. Print prowess
When you’re not in the mood for a total pattern mash-up, you can still look wildly stylish in a head-to-toe animal
print. And consider something beyond leopard print – cheetahs, zebras and giraffes are just as good. "

Further investigation shows that the double pretty has hit the runways, such as in these images (taken from this site)

What do you all think about this? Do you think it will take off? Would you do it?
